AhlulBayt News Agency: Palestinian resistance fighters in Gaza have ambushed Israeli occupation forces in Khan Yunis, killing and injuring several soldiers amid Israel’s intensified military campaign.

According to Palestine’s Safa news agency, Hebrew-language reports indicate that a special Israeli military unit was attacked east of Khan Yunis on Friday morning, resulting in five deaths and multiple injuries after a booby-trapped building exploded.

“At least five soldiers were killed and seven wounded, including two in critical condition, due to the explosion of a building,” the agency reported.

Safa added that Israeli military helicopters were deployed for intensive air evacuations to remove the wounded from inside Gaza.

The Palestinian Information Center stated that Israeli special forces entered a booby-trapped building, which detonated and collapsed on 12 troops, making evacuation difficult due to intense fire.

Other reports suggest that 13 soldiers were evacuated from the explosion site, with most of the wounded troops belonging to elite units.

Earlier, the al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, announced a major field operation on Sunday against Israeli forces in Jabalia, confirming the destruction of military vehicles and casualties among Israeli soldiers.

The al-Qassam Brigades stated that they destroyed an Israeli Tiger tank using a Yasin 105 shell and a Shawaz explosive device, leading to fatalities and injuries among its crew.

Israel launched its military campaign in Gaza on October 7, 2023, following a Hamas-led operation against Israeli forces in retaliation for Tel Aviv’s intensified atrocities against Palestinians.

So far, Israel has killed at least 54,677 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and injured 125,530 others in the besieged territory.

During its military campaign, Israel has targeted Gaza’s civilian infrastructure, including hospitals and schools, in blatant violation of international law.

In November 2024, the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former war minister Yoav Gallant, citing war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.

Additionally, Israel faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) for its war crimes against civilians in Gaza.
